PCI defines Civic Engagement as community driven personal and collective actions designed to identify, address & create solutions to community concern.
The PCI Youth Civic Engagement Forums provide young people with the tools they need to participate in electoral politics and non-political community engagement projects.
The PCI Youth Civic Engagement Forums will introduce participants to concepts and practices that range from voluntarism to impactful involvement in South Carolina statewide and local electoral processes.
Youth will engage in service-learning projects that promote volunteerism and community engagement.
These projects will allow youth to identify an area of concern in their community and work with PCI and other community stakeholders to create short-term solutions. Service-learning will bolster participants growth and the enhance the community.
Through the PCI Youth Civic Engagement Forums, participants will learn advocacy and lobbying skills and have the opportunity to practice those skills during our annual PCI Youth Lobby Day.
Participants will convene in Columbia, SC to meet with state legislators to discuss issues of importance in their communities and learn from policy makers.
